Tamara Ebanks

Tamara Ebanks, a seasoned public servant with over two decades of experience in the Cayman Islands Civil Service, was appointed Chief Officer of the Ministry of Health, Environment and Sustainability in May 2025.  

Ms. Ebanks holds a master’s degree in human resource management from the University of Portsmouth and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from York University. She has numerous professional certifications, and her expertise spans legislative development, financial oversight, policy formulation and human resource management. 

In her current role, Ms. Ebanks is leading the ministry’s efforts to advance the health and wellbeing of the people of the Cayman Islands – not only by improving access to, and the quality of the nation’s healthcare services, but also by fostering sustainable environmental, social, and economic balance. This holistic approach contributes to better health outcomes and encourages balanced decision-making across the three pillars of sustainable development.
