Dr. Pooja Monteiro is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at Total Health, with over 13 years of experience. She has been practicing in the Cayman Islands for more than six years.

Dr. Monteiro completed her MBBS from the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences in India. She is board – certified in obstetrics and gynaecology by the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi, and also holds a Diploma in Family Planning from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Mumbai.

Dr. Monteiro was part of the pioneering team that introduced cervical cancer screening using visual inspection with acetic acid and Lugol’s iodine (VIA/VILI) at the Central Railway Hospital in Mumbai. The railway hospitals represent one of India’s largest government-funded
networks, providing free healthcare services to millions. This low-cost, effective screening method is now widely adopted as the standard of care in resource – limited settings.

Dr. Monteiro’s clinical journey spans a broad range of expertise, particularly in laparoscopic and robotic (minimally invasive) surgery, high
– risk obstetrics, gynaecological endocrinology, and cosmetic gynaecology. Her key areas of interest include menopause and adolescent gynaecology, endocrine disorders affecting women, and cancer screening and prevention.
