Dr Chantal Basson is a clinical psychologist with expertise in child, adolescent and family mental health. She has previously worked at Alex’s Place, Adolescent Behavioural Health at the HSA, focusing on crisis mental health and suicide risk.
Chantal is a former lead consultant clinical psychologist at the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK, where she spent 10 years in senior leadership. She is also a qualified family therapy systemic practitioner, with a strong emphasis on child and family mental health. Throughout her career, she has lectured and trained across several universities and NHS Trusts.
Her clinical work centres on attachment-focused family therapy, trauma, chronic long-term health conditions, psychosomatic presentations, neurodiversity, and healing through the development of attachment relationships. Chantal is also engaged in the societal dimensions of mental health, contributing to research, policy and strategy initiatives aimed at improving long-term mental health outcomes.
She holds qualifications in several therapeutic approaches, including family therapy, dyadic developmental psychotherapy, Theraplay, autism assessments and EMDR.
Chantal currently serves as the Clinical and Educational Committee Chair for the Alex Panton Foundation, is an Executive Board Member of the Cayman Islands Psychological Association, and a member of the Pride Cayman Committee.
