Dr. Romnesh de Souza has served as a consultant interventional neurologist at Health City Cayman Islands since 2016. His clinical focus is on stroke and interventional neurology. Following his residency in neurology, he completed a two-year fellowship in Interventional Neurology, gaining advanced expertise in neurovascular interventions.
Dr. de Souza is a distinguished physician with a strong academic background, having published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. At Health City, he has led several pioneering initiatives, including the establishment of a dedicated multiple sclerosis treatment center. He has also performed a number of first-of-their-kind procedures in the Cayman Islands, such as the first mechanical thrombectomy for acute stroke, the first flow diverter for intracranial aneurysms, the first arteriovenous malformation (AVM) embolisation, the first dural fistula embolisation, and the first bypass surgery for a giant middle cerebral artery aneurysm.
In addition to his clinical achievements, Dr. de Souza has played a key role in developing Health City as a stroke-ready hospital, incorporating advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to enhance diagnostic precision and improve patient outcomes.
